Medtronic Japanese employee Chie Kishimoto wanted to organize an event that would not only help others but also create camaraderie between peers and make use of employees’ unique skills.
With tools provided by the Medtronic Foundation, Chie organized 24 employee volunteers to make towel caps for cancer patients. The soft and light caps are given to patients who have lost their hair during treatment. Experienced sewers mentored other volunteers so that any employee interested in volunteering could participate. In total, because of Chie’s leadership, volunteers sewed 39 towel caps in 2018.
