Medtronic encourages its employees to give back to their local communities through Project 6, the company’s annual volunteerism initiative. Through the Medtronic Foundation employees have access to tools and resources that empower them to organize volunteer events in the neighborhoods where they live and work.
Keith Hebert, senior director at Medtronic, was inspired to support volunteer events packing meals to feed hungry families in his own community. Since then, with the help of tools provided by the Medtronic Foundation, these meal packing events have expanded to multiple Medtronic locations across the United States and the Netherlands, maximizing the global impact of these volunteers. Together, employees have packed more than 1.8 million locally-sourced meals that then go to the local community.
“You can see the need is huge right in our own backyard,” said Keith. “I really saw the opportunity to give back, and I had a passion for this cause.”
